Technical Sales Manager – ($80-100k)

Chance Rides has been manufacturing a diverse line of amusement rides including trains, trams, carousels, thrill rides and roller coasters for over 60 years We take great pride in being a leading manufacturer of amusement rides and people movers worldwide.

Our products serve customers that include large theme parks, small to medium-sized regional amusement parks, FECs, zoos and aquariums, plus stand-alone attraction venues. We have manufactured, delivered, and installed over 3,000 amusement rides, roller coasters, observation wheels and people movers, that continue to exceed our customers’ expectations.

Chance Rides is excited to announce that we are currently seeking a Technical Sales Manager.

The successful applicant will focus on acquiring additional revenue streams from existing clientele as well as bringing on new customers who can benefit from our product offerings.

As a Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly quotas while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This position will report to the VP of Sales and Marketing and manage a minimum of 20 accounts at any given time. We’re looking for a sales-oriented technical professional who values productivity and customer engagement. Ultimately, this position should contribute to an increase in sales and maintain our company-client relationships at a high standard.

Essential Functions

  • Generate new business using existing and potential customer networks
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts to achieve long-term success
  • Develop positive relationships with clients
  • Resolve conflicts and provide solutions to customers in a timely manner
  • Report on the status of accounts and transactions
  • Suggest actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth
  • Track sales account targets, aligned with company objectives


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with solid computer skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results
  • Possess a mechanical/technical aptitude, excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with customers
  • Strong ability to persuade, motivate and influence others
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Highly motivated with the ability to aggressively pursue and effectively close business
  • Monitors market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and funnels relevant information to the appropriate sales management for consolidation in our market sensing process
  • Capable of evaluating issues and effectively communicating technical and non-technical solutions to customers
  • Directly engage customers with product expertise

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required – Engineering preferred
  • 5 years of  technical sales experience, capital equipment preferred
  • Technical or mechanical background preferred
  • Amusement industry sales experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with highly engineered products or built to spec environment
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing environment would be an advantage


  • Expected domestic travel 35% – 65%.
